UPDATE 28: Prepping for the new week….

Random flotsam and jetsam from my life and thoughts:

1.  I saw the latest Rambo movie on Saturday;  I enjoyed it, though, indeed, pretty intense and probably the most graphic war-type movie I’ve ever seen.  Unfortunately, probably also the most realistic.  I hope to blog more about this movie this week…

2.  I preached today at the Raleigh Vineyard, covering Genesis 40 and 41 in the Joseph story (which really means that I talked about DREAMS because that’s what’s in those chapters).  Response to prayer time was pretty cool; people are hungry to hear God’s voice!!  You listen to the message by clicking here.

3.  I am heading into week 3 at the new job, and feeling more and more comfortable.  It’s a good job.  And, I get paid this week!

4. Our kids are in Indiana with grandparents for Spring Break, so Tracy and I are spending the week investing in our relationship and relaxing as much as we can.  What a blessing, and the kids are having a fantastic time!

5.  I am speaking at the Crossroads Fellowship singles ministry on Tuesday night at their monthly service.  I am blessed to have this opportunity to serve and connect with other parts of the Body of Christ! 

6.  I got some birthday money!  So I will be buying some books (including Pagan Christianity) and downloading some new music ASAP because I haven’t been able to for so long.  I’ll keep you posted… just because I can.

How did I get to be 36? 

This was my cake from the little family celebration on Sunday.  Per my request, my wife made the Uber Cake:

• chocolate cake
• chocolate chips AND peanut butter chips
• chocolate/peanut butter frosting
• chocolate pudding in the middle!

 

UPDATE 27

Well, I finished my first week on the new job.  Things went very well, overall, though I did have some brain pain from trying to learn all the new info in a hurry.  I am basically a customer service rep, answering emails and (eventually) phone calls about people’s orders, memberships, subscriptions, etc.  Not the most exciting stuff but it is a job (!!) and the environment is really great.  The people are all very friendly and supportive, and I think everybody there is a Christian.

Meanwhile, I am moving toward being the interim pastor at a church in the area while their pastor is on a sabbatical.  It’s a long story, but God may in fact be leading in this direction.  I met with the designee from their board last week, and today met with the whole board to “interview.”   They are supposed to have a decision or know what the next step will be within a week.  Not sure how long that role would last if things go that way; please be praying for us and with us about all that.

Other church stuff:  Raleigh Vineyard had a “Night of the Cross” special service Thursday night and it was really cool.  I got to sing a “special” (Nothing But the Blood– Matt Redman) before we took communion.  I’m gradually being worked into worship ministry there.  I am scheduled to preach there again on March 30th.

Meanwhile, Abbie has started (due to my new job) going to childcare Monday thru Friday, and she has been loving it!  She is constantly talking about and wanting to write letters and numbers… she is so ready for Kindergarten!!  Noah is about the same: tearing through big books that are up above his grade level, loves to play with his cousins, still digging Star Wars and all manner of superheroes.  He is wishing for his own room again, though…

Tracy is still doing well at her job, though she is not really fulfilled there.  It is a good job, however, and a good company, so she’s plugging along.  Tracy and I love each other very much, and our marraige keeps getting stronger and deeper, just when you think that the stress might just be too much.  God is GOOD, all the time!
